Our Governance

Our General Governance is headed by our Bishop, Rev. Dr. Pete Bertolero, his board of directors, and the Order's founding officers of the Fresno Round Table, FCGC. This body oversees the growth and administration of our local and global branches, making sure that each branch governs itself in an orderly manner, according to the policies and procedures set forth in our KOGC Handbook.

Each local Branch of the KOGC is governed by it's own Round Table, officiated by four officers, a Chairmen, Sergeant of Arms, Treasurer and Secretary, each of which serve a two year term. Every two years, there needs to be a time set aside for new nominations and a new vote for officers. An exceptional officer that has fulfilled his two year term may be re-nominated and voted in again, so long as he accepts his nomination. However, if there are other suitable and worthy men amongst the general assembly of knights who would serve the Round Table in an admirable and qualified way, they should be given an opportunity to serve in some capacity as an officer as each new term is begun. No entitlements should be allowed to form amongst those who hold office in our order. As Jesus washed His disciples feet, so each officer must look upon his office as a place of service and hard work in refining and bettering our Order.

Each Round Table should meet monthly. At each meeting there should be present the following:

The officers or a quorum of officers

The Knights comprising the Order

The Bishop or Bishop's representative

A Representative from the Arma Patria

Each Round Table meeting should have the chairs set up in a circle or semi circle, with a podium or pulpit set up from which all who wish to officially speak must do so; a Banner with the official Green Cross Emblem should be hung from the podium or pulpit, or table if one is set up.

Each Round Table should follow the following Format:

      1. Either begin half hour early with food or refreshments or end with them
      2. Open with Acknowledgments and greeting from the Chair Person, along with a review of the agenda for the meeting
      3. A prayer from the Bishop or Pastoral representative
      4. A public reading of St. Patrick's Breastplate and Nicene Creed by all knights present
      5. Brief remarks on a given topic related to chivalry and knighthood by a knight (no more than two knights)
      6. Brief remarks by the Bishop or Pastoral representative
      7. Brief remarks on the progress of junior and senior squires
      8. Report of most recent event
      9. Review of upcoming events and calendar (including any rites of passage which require the knights presence)
      10. Review of Old Business (minutes from last month) and discussion, seconds, votes
      11. New Business, discussion, seconds. Votes
      12. Assignments and admonitions for next months meeting
      13. End with prayer by the Bishop or Pastoral representative
      14. Refreshments

There are four types of Round Table meetings: 1) an officers meeting for just the officers, for the purpose of planning, discussing, etc; 2) Closed meeting, which characterizes the normal Round Table meetings of knights; 3) open meetings in which squires and other recruitment hopefuls (male) are invited; and 4) open meetings in which the general public is invited (guest speakers, etc.)
